Marie Stopes Uganda today launched #GuardYoGame, a youth-focused campaign aimed at encouraging young Ugandans to make informed decisions, protect their health and embrace responsible behaviours in the face of ongoing HIV prevention challenges.

The campaign is being launched at a critical time as concerns about new HIV infections remain high, particularly in urban and peri-urban centres such as Kampala, Wakiso and Mbarara. Recent media reports indicate that Kampala alone records an estimated 211 new HIV infections every week, reinforcing the need for sustained prevention efforts, awareness and access to protection.

The #GuardYoGame campaign seeks to place HIV prevention and personal responsibility at the centre of conversations among young people. The campaign encourages young Ugandans to recognise that just as they protect their ambitions, finances, careers and reputations, they should also protect their health, relationships and future.

A key pillar of the campaign is a strong digital engagement strategy designed to spark nationwide conversations online. Through coordinated social media engagement, real-time event coverage and influencer participation, the campaign aims to drive visibility and public dialogue under the hashtag #GuardYoGame.

Marie Stopes Uganda has partnered with renowned DJ, television personality and radio host Ssuuna Ben to lead the campaign’s digital amplification efforts. Through his extensive reach and influence among young audiences, Ssuuna Ben will drive real-time conversations, share campaign experiences and encourage thousands of young people to engage with the campaign online.

The campaign officially launches in Kasenge, Wakiso District, with community activations, road drives, entertainment and digital engagement activities designed to generate both on-ground impact and online visibility.

“Every week, new HIV infections continue to remind us that prevention remains everyone’s responsibility. Through #GuardYoGame, we want to inspire young people to protect what matters most by making informed decisions and embracing positive behaviours that safeguard their future,” said Marie Stopes Uganda.
