What happens during circumcision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before the procedure, a doctor will explain the benefits and risks to you, or to the parents if the circumcision is being performed on an infant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For infants, the penis and surrounding area are cleaned, and a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the area. A special ring is then placed on the penis, after which the foreskin is removed. The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes. A topical antibiotic cream is then applied, and the penis is bandaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For adult men, the same procedure is followed, although a stronger anaesthetic may be required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
